Rights in Dialogue: Voices in Art and Activism

Art Rights Truth

Art Rights Truth podcast focuses on the role of the arts in inspiring new approaches and languages in human rights work. In each episode, they speak to guests including artists, human rights practitioners and academics, to try to answer the question: what can art do for human rights? Building on Serafini's (2022) functions of political art, the episodes address documentation, deconstruction, democratisation, 'dosti' (friendship), and denunciation.

The episode features art director, graphic designer and founder of Rafooghar -Pooja Dhingra, community collaborator-Rafooghar and founder of Yellow Streets- Yusra Khan, and activist-scholar Abdul Kalam Azad. They explore the potential for "dosti", or friendship, as a tool to create more sustainable, longer-lasting activist movements in an increasingly polarised world.
